Upcoming week, it is all about the annual triathlon challenge in Almere. The history of the triathlon in Almere goes almost 40 years back as the first event was organized in 1983. The triathlon in Almere is the most known event of it’s kind in the Netherlands and the second-oldest long distance triathlon in the world! This promotional video shows images of 40 years of triathlon in Almere.

The two main events are the official 2021 World Triathlon Long Distance Championships and AquaBike Championships that are held on the 12th of September. There are also a couple of side events that will take place earlier on the 9th and 10th of September.

The best place to spectate from start to finish is the Esplanade square in Almere Stad. The Esplanade square is the center of the triathlon where athletes switch between swimming, biking and running.
